Art Abandoned

Art Abandoned Prose

I watch the storm clouds bludgeon the sky. Grey sunshine splays bone across pavement. Fallen flowers and lost letters drift in the wind. The petunia turns her gaze to the ground and smiles.

He sits there in shadow with concrete lacings on his skin and mortality in his eye. River rock and pebble root him to the black earth. Urban landscape abounds.

His face is lost in sorrowful smile. He defies his flesh between clouds of oil pastel smoke. He wants to live but he has given up on society. He resigns himself to mortality but does not believe in death. He lingers on, a ghost in sunshine and a shadow in dark, slowly fading from his painting until river rock and black earth overwhelm the canvas and threat of rainbow darkens the sky.

This write speaks to me of the reality that even in an urban landscape, all of the materials that surround us are of the earth, which disrupts common notions of urbanity as devoid of nature. Lovely write, Jaya!

  6. Unwanted Life

This piece kind of reminds me of how we can be swallowed up by depression. It even has a hint of suicidal ideation, especially when you factor in the featured image. Another great poem that can easily mean many things to many people

This perfectly describes the life of one who lives in a society filled with judgment’s, one who don’t necessarily have suicidal thoughts but goes to a deep dark place because of it. Beautiful captured emotions Jaya, I love it. ❤️

From your first words I found myself completely immersed in an atmosphere full of emotions and yet also full of contrasting grays, a bit like autumn: warm in colors and cold in temperature, rich in gifts and stingy in light.
