Today, a Waterfall

nature poetry

Slippery along the rocky ridges of my

throat, spring water floods the crystalline

base of my heart.

Trickling, it fills the

pool, the womb

I follow its path with my

breath, alive to the worlds grinding

in my joints, the ache in my

skeletal dreams, the riverbed

of my corpse.

That sounds or feels like a walk too far! Love the water and then the almost deadly aches. Quite a contrast.

I so enjoy your collection of sensory elements in your poems. The “like” button isn’t loading for me. This has happened for me on your page before, and I don’t know why. I am on my PC so it’s not that its the problem of my mobile phone.

When you say, “I follow its path with my breath [referring to the waterfall]” it’s…. infused with movement downwards as the waterfall pools in the womb. Simply beautiful. “The riverbed of my corpse” is a striking ending. I can see the texture.. appreciating the visuals you elicit to create this textured and moving effect, even after death–the imprint remains.

Beautifully written and wonderful imagery. Personally, I love the way you incorporate multiple aspects of the body. Your words deliver a cacophony of feelings that tossed me over the waterfall because I was unsure where it was taking me. But, that’s a good thing. 🙂

I admit I had to read this poem a couple of times for it is deep. I think the interpretation is up to the individual and in this case for me I see both pain and healing flowing as water flows.

Wow, the braid is beautiful. It certainly comes across, rather cascades, as “spring water.” The verse rightly challenges what might too easily assumed about spring and water. Sometimes what flows through us is too much.
