3 Poems Published in the Halloween/Revolution Chapbook!

Halloween Revolution Chapbook

I am proud to share three of my poems, Lighthouse purses the moon, How to Dress for the Revolution, and West of the Goddess, are featured in the Halloween/Revolution Chapbook published by Priming the Pump Publisher!

Priming the Pump Publisher is a publishing collective seeking to create community by priming the pump of creativity. With multiple people bringing their trickle of rain to the community, a river strong enough to change landscapes is created.

The chapbook is a short collection of poems about Halloween and revolution and is by poet Renée LaMie. It also features the guest poems of myself, the talented Ingrid Wilson, and equally talented Constance Bourg.

This publication is another writing milestone for me. My participation in this book is due to my having won a competition hosted by the Friends of Dorothy Poetry Series on Instagram. The winners are featured in ths book. Participants were invited to submit two short poems, one on the topic of Halloween and the other on the theme of revolution. I wrote and submitted Lighthouse pursues the moon and How to Dress for the Revolution.

West of the Goddess is a poem Renée and I worked on together. It is a collaboration piece and, alongside my personal edit and titling of the poem, Renée will print her version of the same original poem. I am particularly excited to see how the poems will differ from each other and potentially tell different stories in similar words!

A limited number of copies of the Halloween/Revolution Chapbook have been printed so, if you would like to support a small press and an author you admire, copies are available for purchase here.

To tempt you, the following is an excerpt of my poem, How to Dress for the Revolution.

I wore silver sword earrings

Black leather skirt cut from dreams

Served shortbread off an oaken platter

Butter crumbles sweet under my nails . . .
