‘Settler’ Published at The Lake Magazine!
I am so pleased to share my poem, Settler, is published at The Lake Magazine in the magazine’s August issue! The August issue is carefully curated and includes the fabulous writing of a dozen other writers.
About The Lake Magazine
The Lake is dedicated to the idea that all writing helps feed the forever reservoir that is the literary lake. The Lake publishes all forms of poetry by new and established poets and seeks to highlight the best of contemporary poetry and review the best of the new books.
About Settler, Published at The Lake Magazine
There is something magical about water. The way it moves, the way it feels, and the way it sounds create a living poetic experience. Settler is a poem that seeks to honor the flow of water with its rhythm and acknowledge the importance of water with its narrative.
Curiously, Settler is one of the only poems I have had published at multiple magazines. This poem also appears in Issue III: Hestia: Hearth & Home from Free Verse Revolution and is forthcoming at a journal later this winter.
Poetry Excerpt!
The following is an excerpt of my poem, Settler, Published at The Lake Magazine.
She gave us a rusted pail one year
She called it an ash pail
This old woman from the hills
With tree bark for skin and
Roots for nails and
Eyes full of nineteen twenty-one.
She gave us the pail dented with wishes and
Lives embalmed in rust
When the sun was strong enough to fade our clothes and . . . please continue reading here and do share your beautiful thoughts!
