‘Guardian’ Published at Green Ink Poetry!

Guardian Micropoem Published at Green Ink Poetry

I am elated to share my poem, Guardian, is included in Safeguard (Part 2), a beautiful collection of evocative writing from Green Ink Poetry!

Green Ink Poetry is a United Kingdom based digital poetry press welcoming “Chaos, Calamity, And The Natural World. Hope Punks & Witches.

I call myself a word witch so there is nothing more fitting than to find the place my poetry belongs.

Green Ink Poetry curates their poetry in themed collections, of which this collection is number six. I encountered Safeguard (Part 1) and found the poetry to be breathtaking and beautiful, raw and passionate, truthful and ugly. The writing was protective of the places it honored and inspired me to write of the places I love.

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where the many overlooks along the parkway offer chilling and awe-inspiring views of the mountains. In spring the trees are an evolving picture of growth, in summer the treetops are a sea of green to rival the waves of the ocean. In fall the leaves blaze and in winter they are stark and grim in their beauty.

I am privileged to explore the small woods within the greater forest, to find hints at past lives lived in tumbled down homes and neglected fields, and to gather inspiration in secret dells. If that is not something to be treasured and safeguarded, what is?

Protect what you hold dear, however small it may be, in all the ways you can.

Alongside colorful photos, the writing in Safeguard (Part 2) carries me in words to land much like my own, loved and beautiful in writing by fellow poets around the world. Cherish these poetic pictures.

I invite you to enjoy Guardian and think of the ways you protect, shield, and nurture all you must.

Being able have access to the woods is always nice! Something we don’t get out here in LA! Love the piece. It gives a nice depiction of nature!
