Book Review: Art of Escape by Mina Gorji
The poetry in Art of Escape is short but meticulous and sure of itself. The words know what they need to say, and they say it proudly. From the armadillo to the octopus to us, we live and take breath from the same land. Home is where we make it.

Desire
Betrayed by her crimson red fan and the height of her heels . . .
Lunar
Glistening beyond sight, a stair . . .
Look
Neglect to lock a door and your heart flies open.
W is Wax
W is Wax . . .
Stronger Things
Say goodbye.
Book Review: The Jaguars That Prowl Our Dreams by Mary Mackey
When I was offered a copy of Mary Mackey's most recent poetry collection, The Jaguars That Prowl Our Dreams, in exchange for a review, I was a little hesitant to accept. But, since I always love trying something new and am never disappointed by how much I learn when I step outside my comfort zone, I decided to snatch up this chancing opportunity.
Pestilence
A pink can, peeking out from beneath a tire.
Sacred
Wings in the mist but perhaps it is teeth?
Unwilling
Fine threads of black, knotted into masks.
Temptation
A golden apple, shining in the sun.
