Goddess Eternal

Goddess Eternal Poem

I have the body of a goddess

Porcelain eyes that make you bleed into sunset

Liquid silk inked over with wine.

Ritual and festival echo in my bone

I send out roots that pierce the mountains and

Extract sweet from the sea.

You hear lyre chords distant in the wind

Music strummed along my spine

Painted backdrop of the sensual and celestial

Sacred dance under blazing desert sun.

Words written in ancient diary spill across my statuesque skin

Egyptian cotton woven by slender hand embraces me

I linger on in memories of the breaking summer wave and

Moonrise over the Nile.

I really love the line, “Painted backdrop of the sensual and celestial”. It paints an image of a beautiful night sky unhindered by light pollution, so you’re left with just an awe-inspiring view of the cosmos, and thus, creating the perfect background. Great poem
