6 Practical Uses for a GPS Tracker in Everyday Life

everyday uses for gps trackers

AD—Gifted. Purchasing a GPS Tracker can seem like a daunting last resort, but these trackers come in handy for a variety of everyday uses too. Here are a six everyday uses for GPS trackers that may enhance your sense of security and improve your peace of mind.

1. Everyday Uses for GPS Trackers: Protecting Against Campus Theft

Ever since I started university in August, I worried about what I would do if my backpack went missing, as it contains my notebooks and valuable electronics. After PAJ GPS sent me their handy Find & Protect device, I charged and activated the tracker and slipped into one of my backpack’s inner pockets. The tracker has a battery life of 90 days in standby mode and transmits its location to the PAJ GPS finder portal, where I can view a map that accurately reflects where I have been over the course of the day.

Having the tracker has relieved my state of mind, as I know that if my backpack goes missing, I can easily track it.

2. Everyday Uses for GPS Trackers: Protecting Against Car Theft

Car theft is a problem in many cities. Slipping a GPS tracker discretely under the back seat of your vehicle is a wonderful way to have the added security of knowing where your car is at any given time.

3. Mapping Where You Go

I find it so interesting to look at the PAJ Finder Portal and see a little map that charts where I go over the course of a week. It is fun to see overlapping lines and notice where I sometimes appear to walk off in a random direction.

4. Creating Art

I have not done this yet, but I have heard that it is possible to create a piece of art on a GPS map by walking in certain directions with the tracker. The idea is that, when you look at the map, you will see a recognizable pattern or figure shaped from your GPS trail.

5. Monitoring Your Teen

If you are and your teen are comfortable with this relationship, placing a tracker in the vehicle your teen uses can be a great way to know where your teen is and if they are safe at any given moment, especially if they are going on a road trip or planning to be out late at night.

6. Everyday Uses for GPS Trackers: Locating Your Suitcase

If you are traveling and are concerned that your luggage will not make it to its final destination, tuck a tracker in among your clothing! I recommend doing this if your suitcase contains anything valuable, such as gifts or sentimental items, such as journals and diaries. If your suitcase does get lost in the airline’s system, you can easily track your suitcase. This increases your chances of recovering it!

So, what tracker am I using and who is PAJ GPS?

I have to say that your uses for GPS are much more sophisticated than mine (I only use GPS to navigate roads and track my running sessions). The art bit is pretty funny though, because I’ve seen people do things like draw a bicycle on the map—while riding their bike! Anyway, thanks for this post!

Wonderful suggestions. I think most of my friends have got a GPS for their cars and I am the only one without it. Actually sometimes I will use their GPS, telling them how to switch between different languages. Still I don’t have it for myself. LOL.

This is an interesting device, as nowadays things will be easier tracked it can also be a good think for the items you mention, like a back-pack or a car. I also like how you highlight the state of the relationship if you wish to use it to track your child. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I haven’t heard of this brand. But what a great idea to protect your belongings. I am wanting to go to university next September and so I will have to look into a GPS. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve never used one of these. My daughter put AirTags in her suitcase when she went to Australia. It was a big relief for her to land at the airport and know her bags had landed, too. Amazing technology.

A tracker definitely adds a layer of added security to luggage!

I am not sure how we lived without this incredible technology. Well, younger generations haven’t. 😁 Thank you, Jaya, for offering suggestions I had not considered.

Congrats to starting uni. GPS tracker is quite a handy thing. It is like a habit needs to be developed to use it more. And that device actually looks nice. I didn’t know about car theft quite common there. Nice collab post I must say! Xx

We never thought about a GPS tracker, but it makes sense to make sure you don’t lose something of value.

Those are great ideas. I’ve tried to use the AirTag in lieu of GPS–it’s cheaper–but it’s not nearly as effective.

    1. Jaya Avendel

I have heard AirTags do not give as precise a location, so a GPS tracker is definitely a bit more effective!

What a great way to protect your belongings! I would definitely use something like this at school or traveling to keep track of my bags, but I love how there are so many other ways to use it too. I’ve heard of other GPS devices like this before, but never heard of this brand so thanks for sharing your helpful review! 🙂

    3. Unwanted Life

The device seems pretty big, so it’d be easy to for someone to find by the person who stole your backpack. Does the device let you know when it’s battery is running low? It looks like this could also be used for people to track someone without their knowledge, like what happened with the Apple AirTag

      1. Jaya Avendel

It’s definitely a tad bit big for what I’m using it for, but it would be ideal for putting in a suitcase or hiding in one’s car.

Yes, it sends an alert when the battery is running low too 😊 🪫
