‘Enriched’ Published at Visual Verse!
I am delighted to share my poem, Enriched, is published in Volume Eight, Chapter Ten of Visual Verse’s ongoing online anthology!
Visual Verse is a creative writing platform publishing the best writing submitted in response to its monthly photo prompt. Chapter Ten is packed and brimming with words that rupture and explode off the page. Penned by a plethora of talented poets and writers, I am proud to be part of this month’s ongoing collection of writing.
August’s prompt inspired me to delve into what it feels like to become lost and enraptured in a good story. When I read, I read slowly and savor each word except when I devour every letter and the ink becomes part of my bloodstream because good stories touch on the basic emotions, observations, and thought streams that most of us experience daily in our lives. Good stories are timeless because they take those elements and present them so clearly, so uniquely, and so beautifully that each of us takes away something personal, be it from one word or one image recalled in response by remembrance.
Seek out those stories. Learn to recognize the gem of personality among the masses. Tell those stories. Learn to unearth the plain soil of your life and discover a quartz crystal among the dirt.
I invite you to enjoy Enriched and perhaps momentarily lose yourself to memory.
Give me an aqua moment
To sit suspended on the
Prick my finger on the sharpness
Wonder at the clarity of
Sunshine suspended
Tear-like in water . . . please continue reading here and feel free to share your beautiful thoughts!

I rad your poem on Visual Verse. And I really love the profundity of your words. I found myself lost in the words for a while there…..
And congratulations for the publishing of the poem!!
I visited the guidelines of VV and I was wondering can I copy and paste in the content area? I mean write it somewhere else, and paste it there after writing??..
Jaya Avendel
Thank you for your enjoyment of this piece! Love that you are interested in Visual Verse too!
I write in Word and copy and paste my poems over to the content submission area. I have never had any trouble, but I encourage you to just go over what you have pasted over to make sure your line breaks and formatting are still in place. 🙂

Continuing the tradition I have with your poems, of choosing words/lines that resonate with me, I pick the fourth stanza of “Enriched.” (The three above it are pretty exquisite too.) I don’t think I will ever look at old books and their scribbled-on, “yellowed” pages with the same eyes. The poem’s beautiful, thanks for sharing, and a big congrats on getting it published. xx

Jaya, congratulations to you in writing and publishing this brilliant poem! 👏🏼 We share a love of reading, that was my sanctuary as a young child, then encouraging that love in younger generations became my passion. You are a gifted writer. 💖

Teaching is a calling, but I do think sharing and receiving lessons and wisdom is a gift for all generations. As long as it isn’t preachy, judgmental, or prohibitive, of course. No one appreciates that!
