‘Bloom’ Published in Humana Obscura Magazine!

Bloom Published in Humana Obscura Magazine

I am thrilled to share my poem, Bloom, is published in Humana Obscura Magazine!

Humana Obscura is a beautifully curated magazine passionate about exploring the beauty of nature through written word, artwork, and photography. In the words of editor Briana Bruce, the publication focuses “on work where the human element is concealed but not entirely absent.”

Be it through our perception of nature or nature in its natural landscape, forms of nature take center stage in this collection that focuses on the growth bursting into being during spring, and the culmination of many a flower and landscape in the coming months.

I am delighted to experience the varied atmospheres of poetry and art in this gorgeous collection! The writing and visuals simply feel alive. Each poem is a treat to savor, made whole by accompaniments of vivid artwork and photography. Landscapes are created and the diversity of the earth is made tangible through the roots of the planet.

Why nature inspires me

The ruthlessness of nature contrasts with its beauty and allure, offering endless opportunity to wander in possibility. Landscapes are quick to change and, damage done, settle into a new rhythm of existence.

I also find nature’s movement and emotion are parallel to human feeling and growth. By sitting with or in nature, you begin to realize you possess the same roots. You begin to see your form is akin to the tree. Your breath is a child of wind. Simply put, by experiencing nature, you go back to the beginning of existence.

I invite you to read Bloom and burst into being within yourself! The following is an excerpt of my poem, Bloom, published in Humana Obscura Magazine.

It bursts forth from beneath my skin

A river too long dammed.

Rivulets and spark . . .

My poem can be found on page 43 of the Humana Obscura Magazine’s fourth aesthetically beautiful digital issue. I am in love with the painting placed alongside my written word; its movement and color give my poem a depth I had not previously awakened to.

I would love it if you experienced Bloom in full here. Do share your beautiful thoughts!

A beautiful poem that perfectly expresses the human connection to nature you write about in your introduction, Jaya. The first stanza speaks to me of the emotions we carry within us, and how they seek an outlet through whatever means necessary, and the second stanza is a mirror of the first, nature looking over her shoulder at the blossoming of emotion coming forth. A gorgeous write! Congratulations on the pub!
