Listen Haiku Published at Whispers and Echoes

I am so pleased to share my haiku, Listen, has been published at Whispers and Echoes Magazine!

Whispers and Echoes is an online journal of short writing that cuts to the bone and offers an image as sure as our own in the mirror. I am honored to be part of this collective and extend my gratitude to Sami Cox, Editor, for her acceptance of my poetry.

I am writing a poetry book. This is a bold declaration.

My writing is inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia; my home, by lives I have yet to live, and by the pulse of the world as I know it. It is said a reader lives a thousand lifetimes but a reader can only live written lives. As a writer, I have lived or at least glimpsed enough lifetimes to last me my own.

It is a careful dance to put to words the timeless moments that enter most of our lives, to remember the moments of my own that make me whole, to make my heart. I was here. I am here.

I do not know yet the title of my book, nor how long it will be, but I write a new poem each day and know my writing holds a piece of me in it.

You too are all my inspiration; challenging me to see in new ways and admire the way the same words mean different things to different people. Thank you for sharing this life with me.

Now, as autumn sweeps the land and its colors encourage us to listen to the change in our world, I invite you to enjoy Listen; one of my perceptions of fall, and find your own.

Skipping stones the creek . . . please continue reading here and feel free to share your beautiful thoughts!

It is always great news to hear about your work being posted. Listen was posted just at the right time with autumn right around the corner. That is such an interesting point. I felt like I have lived through so many lives just by the shows I have watched as it is. This reminded me of when I binged all seasons of Game of Thrones within two weeks before the finale and I felt like I was living in Westeros LOL. CONGRATS AGAIN!! 🙂

🙂 Shows and books are some of the greatest ways we learn from lives not our own. Thanks so much for reading!

Congratulations, and good luck! I love what you said about different interpretations being inspiring. I love that about creative work, whether it be a poem or a song etc – the fact two people can hear/ see the exact same thing and it transforms into something totally different for each of them is so interesting to me x

I love this little haiku! It reminds me of a DH Lawrence poem about a mountain lion I read years ago and stayed with me. I can just picture the water skipping over the stones – beautiful, Jaya!
