Fragility Cycle

Fragility Cycle Poem

Words born of my marrow and plasma

Claim proudly their heritage. Once

She; my nemesis

The one I hold inside my heart and

Dream about becoming

Tried to rename a string of

Letters I wrote in burgundy.

Burgundy, as in blood,

As in lipstick. I whittled the soft tip

Into a ballpoint and

Wrote on my finite skin in lieu of pen and paper.

The pigment is too bright for my

Twilight complexion.

I am bleeding

Bleeding ink I cannot contain

With nothing but adobe lace dreams to

Remember myself by.

There is a melancholy, a sadness, but also a strength, where you bleed ink and try to write your story…your pale skin so white against the red…Lovely writing Jaya!

I can’t put my finger on what’s in your poetry that sends shivers through me.

“[…] I whittled the soft tip

    Into a ballpoint and

Wrote on my finite skin in lieu of pen and paper.”

Even just this… making yourself your own holder of art, the place, the best place maybe, to be a vessel of words and emotions and thoughts. Even just the mention of “finite”.. it gives it such a gravity, a responsibility. Love it!

The way you imagine and create this with imagery is stunning, Jaya!
