Shedding Firework

Shedding Firework Poem

I smoldered on with smoke for a veil that

Hid the blaze in my eyes.

Night alighted upon my hair

I twined it through my fingers and

Warped it into bracelet.

Moonlight drove the flame from my eyes

I felt the heat roil through me and

Thread my ribs with ash.

The beacon turned to flame inside my heart and

Broke my chest apart.

Diaphanous smoke lit with lost dream and fervent wishes

I screamed free

In burning midnight air

I erupt with the last dependence left in me.

I am particularly struck by the conclusion: the exploding addiction.
A strong sense of liberation came to me: addictions are too often negative and enslave us, so it is wonderful to be able to think of eliminating them by transforming them into an explosion, but also in the spectacular light of fireworks.
