Daffodil
These silken skirts brush gently across the earth
Bare ground pregnant with moisture
Moisture gravid with the breathless sounds of spring.
Footprints stamp the dirt, the toes splayed out
Chocolate imprinted with lavender
Haloes of shade clothe the trees
The birds scent the air with honey that alights on the hair.
Pour the spring water from a pitcher welled from clay
Leave the flower where it lies
Discard the silk for sunshine that touches the skin like
Daffodils that kiss the lips.

Like a colorful multi textured impressionistic painting of Spring, Layla you capture the new life, rebirth and sensual openings of a land and how we humans respond with a daffodil against our lips. Gorgeous writing!

I am pondering on the opened mailboxes and the spring coming in earnest. It’s going to be 78 degree next week here.
