Spring Spells
There is a crack in the sidewalk in the
Sunbaked street outside my aquamarine front door.
Did tears forge a path through concrete and
Search for the ocean?
Woman with rose crushed between her palms
Italy erupts out of the pages laid across my knees
I drink liquid sunshine
Stain my fingers with pomegranate as
Dark as burgundy stain on chiffon or the
Daring stories shadows between cobblestones tell.

Beautiful poem! Especially loved the line: ‘Did tears forge a path through concrete and Search for the ocean?’ and here you have given voice to an inanimate thing: ‘Daring stories shadows between cobblestones tell.’

Oh I love this! The imagery of the tears and the ocean is really thoughtful and I love the idea of liquid sunshine… It reminded me a bit of Felix Felicis in Harry Potter, and of course I wish you could bottle up sunshine and save it for those darker rainy days! Thank you so much for sharing x

A lovely poem, Jaya. I love the sense of stories taking us on journeys throug the cracks of sidewalks as we disappear into imagined worlds.
Jeff Flesch
Ah, it is a lovely concept to reflect upon, that of engaging in a conversion with the concrete sidewalks of the stories of ages past. Oh, I would weep with joy to engage the concrete is such a reflective and contemplative discussion. Gorgeous poem, Jaya!
