Central Park Heart

Central Park Heart Poem

Take me to the place where the air is honey

I will sit with my feet in pebbled water and let the

Earth crawl up my skin.

I will watch the mirrors in the sky dimple and

Listen to the sun sing.

When heartache comes

Riding the coat tails of corset moon

I will add salt to my water and fire to my eyes.

My sorrow is a tempest that

Rolls off me like silk petticoat guided by wind.

I cannot hear you in the silence

I dress in memories and

Tunes that reverberate in my veins.

When the city hums beneath me

I feel oak root replace my bones

I am one with nature

My heart is written in poetic stone.

The line, “Earth crawl up my skin” makes me think of the earth trying to reclaim us to nourish itself, which then got me thinking about how we bury the dead. But I also had another thought, and that’s how the sea reclaims the land and how new land can be formed. Lovely poem
