Blue Dusk

Blue Dusk Poem

Crushed rose petal and gemstone

Wicked snap of jasmine

Summertime sadness wreaks melody

Gloved hands rake through blue dusk.

She breaks against you

White lace tied in French knot

Threads of desire burst from her mouth.

It is dusk that seeps through pores of

Shining skin and pervades your being like music

Torn from the heartache of forever.

Listen to the rhythm of her body

Intentionally lose yourself to her touch

Reset the silver clock dials

Preserve her twilight beauty in immortal wine.

She lingers on in

Silk skirts laced with bramble tears and

Crimson slipper. Swallow the desire in her eyes

Watch her turn to salt spray foaming with blue dusk and

Rejoice in her final celebration of life.

I adore how you take sadness and melancholy, and turn them upside down, disrupting notions of those concepts and of the concept celebration. Gorgeous imagery, amazingly engaging, and so beautiful. Awesome write, Jaya!

This is such a beautiful and haunting piece, you have such a way with words! I think the line I was most drawn to would have to be “Summertime sadness wreaks melody”, it’s something that really spoke to me as this summer just hasn’t been what I thought it would be – it’s been incredibly tough so far. Thank you so much for sharing x

“like music torn from the heartache of forever” 💚

  24. Keep Calm & Drink Coffee

In this poem I began to immerse myself starting from the title.
The first association of thought with the dusk is something fiery or in any case totally different tones from blue.
Instead, your words lead into an ocean of emotions, as if the color itself took shape.
