Womb Ablaze

Womb Ablaze Prose

~In response to the overturning of Roe vs Wade

The threads of the present are fraying. I watch the fibers loosen at the hem. Slowly, the unfinished weaving of world slips off the loom and flutters into fathomless darkness.

I feel the outrage of the earth blossom within me as a scrawl of black ink doubles back on itself and retreats into the past. Pieces of the globe fissure like a womb in agony. Slivers of pain overtake vein and liven into being.

Words come alive in flame. Dying hope of today alights. In the infringing darkness, I watch the descending weaving of world come ablaze at its incomplete hem. Pictorials of the past turn into sketches drawn with lead fire.

Let past battles and victories thread their strength through the same bodies that tremble with grief and energize with joy. In searching for eternal sunrise, cherish the ebony that wraps like silver around your wrists. There is no darkness without broken light.

It is not enough to live. I reach into dusky horizon in search of the future I want to live for. The unknown is dark and comforting. I walk toward it with a torch in hand that blazes with the truth in my soul.

Powerful, emotion invoking, haunting. The last line: “I walk toward it with a torch in hand that blazes with the truth in my soul.” is pure perfection.

“Slivers of pain overtake vein” these words give me the sensation of pain just like if it could be real right now, while I am reading.
So I feel like if I could “slips off the loom and flutters into fathomless darkness” as well.
    Your poems are GIFTS.

The abolishing of Roe vs Wade was a terrible step back for women’s rights. I hope it get’s reinstated. I fear the US will plunge into darkness with this supreme court ruling.
