Pink Lady

Pink Lady Poem

~After Ruth Reichl

Comfort me with apples

On the days when the sun burns bright

Off the collapsing corners of

These ruby jewels.

Give me your chai-spiced tongue and

The sapphires that are your eyes

Give me your dying, pulsing heart.

Give me your honey crisp snap

Give me the essence of your gala before you

Close around the unyielding love of your

Plum blossom being.

I don’t think I will ever be able to casually eat an apple again. I’ll be deep in though with every bite.

Pink Ladies and Galas are my favourite apples – honey crisp snap is exactly how they are, a little burst of fizzy deliciousness with every bite! x

Great poem, I don’t think I’ve read anything on your blog that has used so much description to paint a picture. Is this your work yours or Ruth Reichl?

    1. Jaya Avendel

Thank you for your ❤️ words! The opening line “comfort me with apples” is also the title of one of Ruth Reichl’s food memoirs, hence the credit. 🙂

Each variety indeed has its own unique flavor which you so beautifully intermingled with the types, the closing lines bring about the beginning of it. 🍏 🍎 it’s a tasty poem 😊

What a strange coincidence: apples have become a comfort for me as weel, something just like a point safe, I don’t know if I am able to explain.
A apple is something only apparently simple that I have learnt to appreciate.
While the days with sun are the ones in which I have the opportunity to read your Words.
    Thank a lot!
