‘Child is the father of man’, said Wordsworth! This is so true! Children have a lot of wise things to say! As adults we must learn to listen to children because that’s the best way to understand them! An interesting and thought-provoking poem!

Beautiful piece! I have little ones that I’m close with and they tell such amazing stories. It’s so important to embrace these ages and listen to everything they’re telling you because time sure passes by so quickly.
Jaya Avendel
The stories that children tell come straight from the heart. 🙂

This is a really powerful one. I’ve liked reading the comments from everyone on this one x

I am currently studying children’s psychology and it just seems unbelievable how long it took for someone to think about actually listening to the child instead of treating them like a project or something to be studied as if they weren’t actual human being with thoughts, wills and personality of their own. Delighted to see you chose to touch the topic in a poem!
Jaya Avendel
I love that you share the thoughts this piece inspired! Writing through stories and poetry is currently my favorite way of expressing even topics like this. 🙂

I remember being shushed a lot as a child and feeling like I was never taken seriously. It was very frustrating!

We should always listen to our children; they have so much to teach us!
Allegra Caro
That’s a beautiful piece, truly moving. I wish parents would listen to their children more often. Children have got a lot to teach us.
Jaya Avendel
So they do! Listening is a beautiful skill to practice.

Do parents ever listen to children lol I feel like mine still don’t and I am a grown woman.
Jaya Avendel
I am heartened knowing there are some people who listen! 🙂
Giulia
I know, some really do.

I love these short little poems 🙂

I absolutely love what you did with the structure here, the words flow like water. And the simple questions true? false? say more than is written.
Jaya Avendel
Thank you! Little poems like this always challenge me to say more in less words.
Yaya
Beautiful! I wish my parents had listened to me as a child – instead it was all orders, but I am trying to be different with mine 🙂
Jaya Avendel
Thank you! I love people who change the cycle.

This is such a lovely one. Very appreciative of the fact I have parents who let me have a voice as a child x
Jaya Avendel
I appreciate it with my parents now to, more than ever as I see children with no voice and understand how much it means to have a voice. Thank you for sharing this!
Sahara
Such a great piece! I’ve heard of stories of women who dreamed of being a mother and were told there there wasn’t a high chance due to a number of things such as endometriosis and when they finally have their little miracle in their arms it’s just so overwhelming that their dream became a reality.
Lovely piece!
Jaya Avendel
Overwhelming is a good word for it. Thank you for sharing the emotions of that story!
