Rapunzel Spinning
I watch my kingdom fall
To the bells of a silver lullaby
I braid gold my hair
Cut the plait into coins and
Scatter them to the cobblestones.
Emaciated fingers against my cheek
How cold I am in company!
Clamor below
Black feather against rock
Shadow against bone.
I, the princess who gave her all
To feed the birds
With what was once wheat.

What a story to be weaved from all the fairy tales… a shift of perspective and the prince is of less importance.

Cut the plait into coins and
Scatter them to the cobblestones.” I get this after death like quality in this write, reminding me of dreams and of antiquity. Beautiful verse, Jaya.

This might be my favourite poem of yours yet Jaya. It reminds me of a King ousted from the throne, and has left his golden haired Queen to fend for herself only to be killed and her body is now feed for the crows! Love it x
