Rapunzel Spinning

Rapunzel Spinning Poem

I watch my kingdom fall

To the bells of a silver lullaby

I braid gold my hair

Cut the plait into coins and

Scatter them to the cobblestones.

Emaciated fingers against my cheek

How cold I am in company!

Clamor below

Black feather against rock

Shadow against bone.

I, the princess who gave her all

To feed the birds

With what was once wheat.

What a story to be weaved from all the fairy tales… a shift of perspective and the prince is of less importance.
