‘Walk’ Published at Whispers and Echoes Magazine!

Walk Haiku Published at Whispers and Echoes

I am happy to share my second haiku, Walk, has been published at Whispers and Echoes Magazine, a delightful online poetic compilation of the small stories that stick with us.

This is yet another haiku on hope, but I feel like many of us need a good dose of hope, or at least a direction in which to look. Continue to find your silver linings.

I have been delighted lately to have several of my shorter pieces accepted for publication, since it symbolizes that I do not need to write a hundred words to say something.

I often read long poems and short poems centered around the same topic. There are times when shorter is better, but I believe good writers tell their story in as many words as they need to.

Perhaps the shorter poem has a more direct approach while the longer piece starts out with a personal story. As long as I enjoyed each piece of writing because the writer told it in their voice and offered a new perspective, neither poem can be compared.

That said, there are times when I must conform to word or syllable counts, as in the case of this haiku, but that limitation offers its own challenge as I dig for stories that need to be told in a simple and direct way. Such as Walk:

Yay, congratulations, Jaya! This is lovely – I always think grey skies are symbols of confusion so if we can find a path through them then we’ll find our blue again. At least, that’s what your haiku means to me, but that’s the beauty of poetry, it means different things to all of us! Lisa x
