For the world is Hollow and I have touched the Sky
~After Star Trek: Season Three, Episode 8
I shine through my skin
Fragile bone and silver dream
Gin and cocoa dust
Rose water pool and desert salt
Black bears at midnight
Wet their claws in aquatic love
Where first I rose out of mist
Sunset spark and soul
In reflection, I rise free.

Lovely poem Jaya. The image is fantastic. I saw 2 similar herons here in Georgia at the park a few moments ago. Majestic creatures. They almost look like small pterodactyls LOL.

At the end of the poem, I silently added “for the world is hollow and I have touched the sky” in my mind. Maybe cuz I’m a Trek fan, but the ending just brought the title to life.
Jaya Avendel
Aww, I so love how you re-wove in that ending quote! The episode is one of my favorites; there is so much emotion in the story.

The “I rise free” statement is such a positive ending and seems like freedom. You have a powerful way with words.

The mind and heart conjure a reflecting pool, with a full moon, where two lovers rise out of the mist, souls entwined and dancing as one. This poem is gorgeous, Jaya!
Jaya Avendel
Thank you, Jeff! I am proud to do justice to the title.

I totally love when you let me enter in your worlds with your words.
And since I live among the mist, I keep faith to rise free, as you described.
THANKS!
