The Awesome Blogger Commendation Award

Awesome Blogger Commendation Award Image

I am extremely pleased to share I have been nominated for the Awesome Blogger Commendation Award by Richie of Richie’s Room!

Richie is passionate about sharing what he believes and finds interest in. I love reading his helpful and thoroughly researched posts about dog rearing and dog training, as he advocates for a positive approach to teaching that I believe extends equally well to people. Please do visit his world of words here!

So, what is the Awesome Blogger Commendation Award?

As Richie points out, we have a habit of scanning over content in our social media feeds we are not interested in. There are those names we recognize, however, that make us stop and actively read because these writers, in a short post or a lengthy narrative, engage us.

These writers are awesome bloggers and are worthy of commendation, hence this award.

The Rules of the Awesome Blogger Commendation Award

  1. Write a blog post to let your readers know of your commendation.
  2. Include these rules in your post.
  3. Include the Awesome Blogger Commendation image in the post.
  4. Within the post, thank the person that nominated you and include a link to their site.
  5. Entertain your readers by structuring your post such that it has:
    • 1 link to a YouTube video (either your own or one that you like).
    • 2 things about you that your readers probably don’t know.
    • 3 photos (your choice) with links to 3 of your posts.
    • 4 questions for your nominated recipients of the Awesome Blogger Commendation
    • Your answers to the questions posed by the blogger that nominated you.
  6. Nominate your chosen recipients of the commendation. Include the name of the blog, a link to its home page, a brief description of the blog, and a link to one of your favorite posts by that blogger. There is no minimum or maximum number of nominations – use your judgement!
  7. Tell your nominees of their Awesome Blogger Commendation! Email, DM, PM, whatever works for you and them.
  8. Tell everybody else! Let people know about the great bloggers you have nominated.

YouTube Video

I have never linked a Youtube video. In fact, I do not spend much time on Youtube. It was fun and interesting to think about the few people whose videos I enjoy enough to subscribe to them on the platform. One such person is the comedian, JP Sears. His channel is a golden bed of funny, engaging, parodic, scarily truthful content.

Two Things You May Not Know About Me

It is tough thinking about yourself from an outside perspective! What is obvious to me because I know myself is often the last thing someone else would know about me. However:

  1. I hold a certificate in food safety from ServSafe.

This was extremely helpful in landing my first job three years ago cooking at a local cafe. Since then, I have worked at a bigger, local restaurant, as well as helped cater several weddings.

  2. I am extremely bad at math.

This is something I am not too proud of, hence I never mention it, but it is something I am working to fix, especially as I am aiming to take the SAT test next year and a solid score depends on my being able to do marginally well on the Math section of the test. Wish me luck!

10 Creative Ways to Overcome Writer’s Block

Ever since starting to write writing and blogging guides, I have fallen in love with being able to share what I have learned about writing and presenting writing with a wide audience. This post remains one of my favorite guides.

They Do Not Open Barnes & Nobles in Small Towns

I love writing short fiction and prose, but I have not written as much as I would like to over the past few months. This recent piece of prose uses Barnes & Nobles as a bookstore metaphor to the importance of valuing stories.

‘Compassion’ Published at Visual Verse!

This is one of my proudest writing achievements! Last year I ended 2020 with my poem, Compassion, featured as one of the lead pieces for Visual Verse’s December anthology issue. It is still an important poem to me today.

Richie’s Questions

  • Tell us about your blogging history. What got you started in the world of blogging? How many blogs do you currently have? Have you had others previously?

I started Nin Chronicles four years’ ago not only to get in touch with my inner creative, but to share what I am passionate about with people. This is the only blog I have ever had; it is constantly evolving and changing into a better version of itself.

  • What was the last book that you read?

Diversionary Fires by Rodney Ross. I won it in a giveaway I entered in a couple months ago. It is an amazing book that spans the lifetime of a woman who begins walking a rocky road as a teen mom only to find herself a millionaire after an unexpected lottery win that comes with consequences.

  • What are your favorite charities?

I love charities that are transparent about how they operate and allocate funds. I love charities that are active and engaged and work toward goals like bettering the climate, and reducing and helping abuse survivors.

  • Imagine that you could instantly learn any new skill (like Neo in The Matrix). What skill would you choose?

Following up on my earlier woe, the first thing that comes to mind is math! Becoming a math genius overnight is welcome any day. The second thing that comes to mind, and one I prefer, is coding. It is a handy skill to have in our ever-evolving digital world!

Four Questions for My Nominees

  1. Why do you blog? Are you in it for the money, the learning experience, the fulfillment, or something else?
  2. What film or show brings you comfort during tough times and why?
  3. Does where you live affect who you are as a person?
  4. What kind of candy do you absolutely hate?

6 Nominations for the Awesome Blogger Commendation Award

  • Michele: My Inspired Life
Michele is a poet and wordsmith, lover of movement, and creative soul. Her realistic and moving poems highlight my day and show me how something simple can be very touching, hence her poem Souvenirs.

  • Ingrid: Experiments In Fiction
Ingrid puts her heart into her writing. Whether she is sharing her latest local adventure, an enchanting piece of fiction, or a poem that flows eloquently, her writing always gives me reason to think. A recent word delight of hers that I love is Let It Linger, a poem that mesmerizes the tongue.

  • Giulia: Tidbits of Care
Giulia runs a lifestyle blog that seeks to share tidbits of everything from self-love to minimalism. Her posts are always informative and personal, and seek to impart something interesting and easily acted upon to the reader, as in 10 Scary and Fun Alternatives to Candy for Halloween.

  • Della: Della Loves Nutella
Della is passionate about furthering her self-love journey, helping people heal and handle their anxiety, and live their best lives possible. One of her recent posts, Learning to be alone and why it’s so important, had me thinking about how much I enjoy my own company and what I can take away from that.

  • Kelly: The Kelly Diane Report
Kelly’s book and make-up reviews, lifestyle posts, and tips on decluttering and minimalism are always engaging reads for me. I particularly love how she opens up in Contraceptive Implant – My Story.

  • You: You read that right!
As you regular readers may know, I no longer list all my nominees by name. I believe many people end up not receiving the recognition they deserve for the effort that goes into their writing so I leave this as an open nomination. If you find my questions interesting or just want to commend yourself for the heart you put into your writing, you are nominated!

I know I still feel shy about accepting open invitations to nominations, so I understand if you are hesitating. Be bold! Make a statement! You deserve this.

May the words flow!

  15. Richie

    Hi Jaya,

Good job! And a fast turnaround, too!

I started off being pretty good at Maths when it was just the basics … but the more complex it got, the more I struggled. I actually won a school prize for Maths when I was at middle school. By the time that I was at university and studying the mathematical concepts linked to economics, which was what my degree was in, it made my head hurt just reading some of the concepts! 😉

    1. Jaya Avendel

🙂 I felt inspired, Richie. Thank you again for the nomination!

    2. Alicia from Nourishing Foods.Tasty Meals

Wow, great work Jaya. Amazing 👏.

  16. Unwanted Life

Congratulations on your commendation. When you say you’re bad at maths, how bad are you?

When Americans say candy, they mean chocolate and sweets right? If so, I hate any kind of confectionery that has orange or coconut in it, especially coconut. That stuff is just vile. What’s you’re worst candy?

    1. Jaya Avendel

😁 😆 When I say candy, I mean chocolate and sweets. I despise both Tootsie Rolls and Jolly Rancher’s. The weird flavor mixes and tastes just do not work for me.

I understand the basic principles of math, but applying them to algebra problems is where I get a little lost.

I love these posts and congrats for being recognised. I also like your questions for other bloggers.

This format allows us to get to you know all better & I love that 🙂
