‘Sacrifice’ Published in Three Line Poetry: Issue #57.

Issue #57 of Three Line Poems from Prolific Press

I am delighted to share my micro poem, Sacrifice, is published in Three Line Poetry’s 57th issue of three-line poems published by Prolific Press!

Prolific Press publishes 7 literary journals. Each journal publishes a different form of poetry with a unique focus, and every issue features hand-selected works written by talented writers.

This publication is another milestone is my writing journey. Sacrifice is the first poem I have been paid for and, while it is a token payment, it means my words are worth something monetarily. While I have always written firstly, for myself and, secondly, to share, to be paid for my writing and still be able to do both the things I love opens a lot of doors.

While I have occasionally submitted to paying writing markets, I have never had any success and my confidence has wavered. This publication gives me the confidence boost to start submitting frequently to paying writing markets and aim for the next rung on the literary ladder.

Three Line Poetry Issue #57 is a visual delight to look at and features the work of fifty poets who have taken up the challenge of weaving a story out of just three lines. Each poem is short and crisp, easily digestible, and the perfect read to settle the mind.

The following is the first line of my poem, Sacrifice

Congratulations Jaya! This is such a huge feat. To be very honest, I love the fact that you write for yourself. In my opinion, there’s nothing better than writing for yourself. While getting paid for your work is by far the best feeling in the world, it is important to write for yourself. You know I am a huge fan of your poems. I just love how easily you have a way with words and I think all your poems are fantastic to say the least. You are just getting started Jaya! There’s way more to come. Here’s to bigger wins 🥂

Congratulations, this is such an amazing achievement! Being paid for your work must be such a lovely feeling – but it’s great to hear that you always write for yourself first, I think that’s so important when it comes to writing. Your first line is beautiful, too – I love the way you write! Thanks for sharing x

Your inspiration from the moon and related speaks of you. It’s a great attempt to submit work for publishing and great to see you getting in there. So congrats on that. Prolific press seems a good source for poetry. And paying market is a good idea I’ll check on those too. Thanks for inspiration. Xx

Congratulations, Jaya! I agree that receiving payment for our writing, however small, is a huge milestone, as it opens the way to being able to make a living by doing what we love ❤️

That’s awesome that you got a payment for your first poem, but what exactly did you get paid if you’re calling it a token payment?

When writing a three line poem, are there rules on how long the lines can be, like how there is for haiku?

    1. Jaya Avendel

With a haiku, while it is three lines, each line has a syllable count. With three line poems, the lines can be as long or short as they need to be.

      Token payment equals $1.50. 🙂
