Belladonna Shade

Belladonna Shade poem

Notable is the grass quietly

Cutting the sun into pieces and

Distributing the gold among roots.

In touching earth

My hands dry to ivory

Copper and turquoise ribbon

Bow fluid around my heart.

Teardrop polishes the north curvature of

A rose stem. Crystalline salt streak

Mirrors the sky.

I know this place

I know this experience of

Living. I know this dark touch that

Warms me as fire and thirst warm me and

I feast from the

Inside out.

Another great piece. I especially like the opening section as it reminds me of using a prism to spilt light into its various wavelengths.

Which parts were inspired by which weekly writing prompts? I think this is the first time I’ve read one were you’ve been inspired by two prompts at the same time

Love the way you read the opening!

I connected the prompt familiar to shade and notable to the poem as a whole. Love that you asked; two prompts definitely makes it more interesting.

I read this 7 times….the first two yesterday and I just closed it and took some time thinking about it. Today I returned and read it 5 times. I love how every word is combined with the others. How you pass from simple things as the grass and roses to the experience and magic of life. Beautiful poem!
