I am so proud to share my poetry miniseries, Misconceptions, is published at Emotional Alchemy Magazine!
Emotional Alchemy Magazine is a beautiful space dedicated to connecting people who use their voices to educate, inspire, and create the world they want to see through words. I could not be happier to see Misconceptions shared with the magazine’s community!
Misconceptions is a series of five micro poems titled after fairytale princesses. The series includes writing inspired by Mulan, Aurora, Belle, Jasmine, and Cinderella.
I feel like many younger people may know these women, these girls, mainly through the Disney movies. While I have little against Disney, their presentation of princesses can be limited to dress, beauty, and the ideal traits of a ‘princess’. The films also draw on less of the original fairytale stories and more on a concept.
My aim with Misconceptions is to open eyes to some misconceptions and present the unseen side of each of these fairytale princesses. My portrayal of these women is my interpretation of them in words. Since the vibes of International Women’s Day are holding, it is doubly important to look at women from different angles as opposed to just their fronts.
As a writer, I love uncovering the untold. As a writer, do not be afraid to tell the untold. Write to say something new about the smallest and most mundane of things.
I invite you to enjoy Misconceptions and perhaps be presented with more than the unseen side of a woman. The following shares the opening lines of Mulan.

Night for hair
How easily you slip between silk and the
Painted wood around a warrior’s heart . . . please continue reading here and feel free to share your beautiful thoughts!

First of all congrats on the publication. Second, I read them all and they are beautiful. The way you described each of the princesses we grew up watching. I never thought about them through that lens and it’s absolutely beautiful. I can’r decide which is my favorite. I loved Jasmin and Cinderella.

Congratulations on getting Misconceptions published! It is great that you’re finding different publishing groups to post your work. You are getting diverse with your spread! So important that people know the truth, to limit that subjectivity. Not a fan of misconceptions, people deserve to know things as it is. Keep doing a great job!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I surely will take it into consideration and off course I am in love with your idea of princess and with the way you have painted them giving also much more beauty than the one they already have.

Congratulations on another fantastic achievement! It’s a really interesting concept, and refreshing to see an alternative perspective who can be either inspiring or reinforce restricted gender constructs, and it was enjoyable to read your take

The micro poem series was great, although I don’t know the Aurora princes, which fairytale, or rather which Disney film, is she in?
